STANLEY DANIELS It is with deep sadness that the Daniels family announces the passing of their dear husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Stanley, on Monday, September 20, 1999 at the Percy E. Moore Hospital, Hodgson, MB. Stanley leaves to mourn his wife of 44 years, Rose and their children, Stephen and wife Sandra, Obi, Doug and wife Deanna, Lois and husband Marcel, Gary and fiancee Pauline, Jeff and friend Bev, all of Peguis and his beloved grandson, Jason. Stanley also leaves to mourn his sisters and brother, Ruby Olafson, Gladys Sanderson and husband Robert, Marina Daniels, Doreen McPherson and husband Don, Peter Daniels, adopted sisters, Thelma Daniels, Bernice Fontaine and husband Purvis and adopted brother Danny Daniels; 11 grandchildren, Melissa, Steven, Trisha, Kevin, David, Felicia, Ashley, Doug Jr., Walter, Jonathon and Kelly; five great-grandchildren, Kursten, Eljay, Dayna, Keevan and Arianna Rose; numerous other relatives and friends. Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Rachel Daniels; his daughter Delma; and sisters, Winnifred and Violet Murdock. Stanley was born on January 31, 1933. He attended the one room day school at Peguis and joined his father in commercial fishing at an early age, where he spent the majority of his working years. On February 22, 1955, Stanley and Rose were married and together raised their family of seven. Stanley worked at the Sekine Factory in Rivers and at the Peguis Arena in the 1970s. More recently, Stanley held the chairman position for the Peguis School Board for 14 years, until his retirement in 1996. Among his many interests, Stanley loved hockey, picking berries, visiting friends, driving his truck, cooking and catching all the sports on T.V. Stanley gave his heart and home to his family and friends, whom he loved very much. His strong religious beliefs made him a true, faithful member of his church. His natural, caring and loving fatherly ways were respected by all who knew him. Stanleys home was always open to anyone in need of guidance and support. Stanley gave freely of his time to foster care. His pleasant and humourous personality brought him great respect and recognition. The Daniels family extends heartfelt appreciation to all the friends who visited and prayed for Dad during his illness. Also thank you to the staff at the Percy E. Moore Hospital who assisted us in caring for Dad. Special thanks to the Peguis First Nation Chief and Council for their assistance. Gratitude to the Peguis Senior Center nursing staff for their care, kindness and support. Wake services were held on Wednesday, September 22 and will also be held on Thursday, September 23 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. All services will be held at the Daniels Residence, Peguis, MB. Barry Bear and Pat Ferris officiating. Interment to follow at St. Peters Anglican Church Cemetery, Peguis. Pallbearers, Tom Cochrane Jr., Gerald Cochrane, Lawrence McCorrister, Carlson Murdock, Stanford Murdock, Winston Murdock. Honourary pallbearers, Colin McPherson, Bill Thomas, Michael Stevenson, Brian Bear, Harold Sutherland, Bill Sutherland, all the Peguis Central Elders. To love a Dad and then to part is the greatest trial to the human heart.
