DOROTHY CATHERINE DERLAGO On September 20, 1999, peacefully, with her family by her side, Dorothy Catherine Derlago left us to be with the Lord. Dorothy was born January 2, 1925 in Halifax, NS where she lived for 34 years before moving with her family to Winnipeg, residing there from 1958 - 1998 and then to Chase, BC on October 1, 1998. Throughout her life in Winnipeg, Dorothy was a member of the Kildonan Presbyterian Church and the Mary Nesbitt Society. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, swimming, (teaching her children and grandchildren to swim), and a passion for cooking her special dishes for family and friends. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her loving husband Lawrence; children, Ron and wife Bea of Grande Cache, Barry and wife Linda of Winnipeg, Debbie and husband Gary of Red Deer, son Laurie of Vancouver; grandchildren, Ryan, Amber, Jeremi, Kari, Jordan and Ashley, all of whom she loved so much. She also leaves brothers, Harold, Earl, Donald and wife Sheila, Leonard and wife Karen, and Gordon of Nova Scotia, sisters, Ruby of Oshawa, ON, Noreen and husband Martin, Lois and Evelyn, all of Nova Scotia, Bernice and husband Granville of Moncton, NB, Joyce and husband Bill of Chase, BC and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Many thanks go to the special care workers of Chase Home Support Service, nurses of 7 South at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, and Drs. Michael Vagyi and Jill Calder for their compassion and care to Mom and us all that went far beyond their professional duties. Also thanks to Dorothys sister Joyce for her support this past year. A memorial service will be held in the Schoening Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. On October 12, 1999, service will be held in the Kildonan Presbyterian Church, Winnipeg, and the interment of her cremated remains will take place. Should friends desire, donations to the A.L.S. Society of BC, 809 - 626 West Pender St., Vancouver, BC V6B 1V9 would be appreciated in memory of Mrs. Derlago. Service arrangements are entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, 513 Seymour St., Kamloops, BC; phone (250) 374-1454.
