MARCEL GAUTHIER Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Marcel passed away on September 21, 1999 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 56. Marcel leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife Dorothy, daughter Monique and her husband Bruce Gustafson, their children Gabrielle and Alexandra, his son Paul and his wife Lynne Gauthier, his mother Malvina Gauthier, five sisters, Patricia (William) Danylchuck, Noella, Claudette (Edmond) Manaigre, Simone (Aime Fillion), Mona (John) Hutchings, three brothers, Raoul (Jacqueline Dorge), Robert (Dorothy), Marc (Leanne). Marcel was predeceased by his father Armand in 1987. He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother-in-law Amelia Struck, four sisters-in-law, Barb (Bill) Kilbreath, Nan (Charlie) Roberto, Pat (Murray) Mills, Fran (Peter) Clarke and two brothers-in law, Jack (Sheila) Struck, Russell (June) Struck, numerous nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles. Marcel touched the lives of many during his short 56 years.. With his career in broadcasting starting in 1963 with the Canadian Armed Forces, he returned to Canada to a sales and management positions with the Centre culturel, the newspaper La Liberte and finally back to broadcasting with Radio Canada/CBC for 20 years. His interests were many, among which were acting with le Cercle Moliere and the Canadian Armed Forces Europe. He was a member of the choir Les Intrepides, the voice of the Jets for several years, and also served as Master of Ceremonies for the Festival du Voyageur and numerous other cultural, government and private functions. In 1987, Marcel returned to Germany with his wife Dorothy to work for CBC International Radio for the Canadian Armed Forces- Europe. In 1992, Marcel returned to Canada to a administration position with CBC. In addition his avid passion for golf and curling rounded out a wonderful and beloved husband, son. brother and brother-in-law. Prayer Vigil will be said on Friday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion Street. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, September 25, at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 rue de la Cathedrale with Msgr. Albert Frechette celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Thank you to all staff at both the Palliative Care at Riverview and St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Research Foundation, 100 Olivia Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9 or to Childrens Wish Foundation, 117-685 William Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 3Z7. Il laisseaussi dans le deuil sa belle- mere Amelia Struck, quatre belles-soeurs Barb (Bill) Kibreath, Nan (Charlie) Roerto, Pat (Murray) Mills, Fran (Peter) Clarke et deux beaux- freres, Jack ( Sheila) Struck, Russell (June ) Struck et nombreux neveux, nieces, oncles et tamtes. Marcel aura touche la vie de bien des gens pendant sa carriere, soit en fonction dannounceur ou de comedien l a entrepris sa carriere dannonceur pour les Forces armees canadiennes en Allemagne. A son retour au Canada, il soccupait de la direction de vente au Centre culturel, le journal La Liberte, ensuite est devenu annonceur en 1963 pour Radio Canada CBC, poste quil a soccupe pendant 20 ans. Il a ete comedien avec la troupe de theatre Le Cercle Moliere et aussi en Europe, toujours dans la Forces armees canadiennes, il a aussi ete membre da la chorale Les Intrepids mais on sen rappelle surtout comme etant la voix des Jets pendant plusiers annees. Marcel a agit a titre de presenteur a plusieurs fonctions publiques, gouvernementales, ainsi que culturelles, y comptant entre le Festival du Voyageur, En 1987, Marcel a retounne en Allemagne avec son epouse Dorothy pour gerer la station de radio sur la base des Forces armees candiennes. En 1992, a son retour , il occupait un poste en ressources humaines avecle CBC. Un homme passionne da la vie , il aimait beaucoup le curling et le golf. Il etait un homme bien aime. Les prieres auront lieu le vendredi 24 septembre a 19h00 au salon mortuaire P. Coutu, 156 rue marion. La celebration Eucharistique auront lieu le samedi 25 septembre a 10h00 a la Cathedrale de Saint- Boniface, 190 avenue de la Cathedrale, avec Msgr. Albert Frechette celebrant. Linhumation suivra au Cimitiere St. Boniface. La famille remercie personel des soins palliatifs aRiverview ainsi que la personnel des soins palliatifs a 1Hopital general de Saint-Bonfiace pour leurs bons soins et gentillesse.
