Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES W. MASON Peacefully, on September 21, 1999, James William Mason passed away at the Grace Hospital. Jim was born on March 12, 1922, in Eriksdale, MB and moved to Winnipeg with his family in 1924. In 1940 he enlisted in the PPCLI and served from 1940-1945. It was during this time that Jim met Kathryn Gibbons, they were married at Camp Shilo, in August 1942. After his service Jim worked for the Manitoba Department of Highways as Deputy Registrar for the Motor Vehicle Branch, retiring in 1977. During his retirement, Jim, Kathryn and their son Patrick spent several winters at the Pine to Palm Park in Texas. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed curling at the Charleswood Curling Club. Jim loved to share stories of his lifes experiences and was a wonderful friend to all who knew him. Jim was predeceased by his wife Kathryn in 1983; brothers, Bert, Art, Tommy and George; sister Jean Scott; as well as his parents, Margaret and Sidney Mason. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his son Patrick; sisters, Nellie Markle and Ethel Hodgson; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Eleanore Chopp and family. The family gratefully acknowledges the kindness and compassion shown by the staff of Grace Hospital 5 North. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd. with Fr. Stan Jaworski officiating.
