Michael was born on October 5, 1906. He was an accomplished musician who spent his lifetime making beautiful music with his saxophone and clarinet. He was a student of Richard Duke Reel in Chicago during the 1930s and was first clarinetist with the R.C.A.F. Band during the Second World War. He performed at numerous weddings and dances and took great pride in the many hours that he spent giving music lessons. More recently, he enjoyed many outings and band sessions with the North Centennial Seniors Club. Michael was also a carpenter by trade, and worked as a carman at C.P.R. Weston Shops until his retirement in 1971. He was a member of Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Gigi was always happiest spending time with his grandchildren and having family gatherings (Happy Hour) in his kitchen. Michael and Mary recently celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary on August 10, 1999. Michael will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his dear wife Mary; daughters, Barbara (Charles) Laham, Lillian (Bill) Sims; grandchildren, Dr. Charles (Teresa), Bahia, Michelle and Christina Laham, Katherine (Anthony) and great-grandson Brandan Oickle; sister Emilia Chaykowski and many other relatives and friends.
