EBBA CALVERT (nee WALSTROM) (GAVINE) Peacefully on September 21, 1999 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, with her family at her side, Ebba Calvert, aged 90 years of Ashern, formerly of Hilbre. Ebba was born on July 29, 1909 in Sundsval, Sweden. She came to Canada as a small child and lived in Winnipeg for a short time and then moved to Hilbre where she was raised. She loved gardening, sewing, riding horseback and enjoyed teaching her great granddaughter Sarah, Swedish songs and sayings in later years, Ebba resided in the Ashern Pioneer Manor. She leaved to mourn her daughter, Margaret (Bob) OGorman of Chicago, IL; son, Robert (Joan) Gavine of Stonewall, MB; granddaughters, Jo-Ann (Larry), Tracy (Tom), Margaret (Gary) six great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie Calvert; brother Magnus Walstrom; two sisters Anne Gavine and Nancy Gahr. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25 at the Ashern Gospel Chapel with Pastor Ivor Grant officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment to follow in the Hilbre Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Galbraith, Tom Lee, Gary Bakker, Chris Stanley, Steve Stanley and Eric Linde. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Lee Isaacs and staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital for the wonderful care they gave our mom.
