MARY KLASSEN On September 23, 1999, after a brief, courageous struggle with cancer, Mary Klassen passed away at Riverview Health Centre. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Peter; daughter Karen Klassen Bender (Jim Bender) granddaughter, Sandra and grandson Daniel. Mary is also survived by her sister Katherina (Abram Tielmann) brother Abram Dych; brother-in-law, Peter Dyck in Germany and many nieces and nephews in Germany and Russia, especially Leni Widmer, her husband Jean-Jacques and children Dominic and Natascha of Bonn, Germany. Mary is also lovingly remembered by her cousins Kay Friesen (David), Betty Epp (David) of Winnipeg and Vic Loewen of Victoria, BC. Mary was predeceased by her parents, on sister and three brothers. Mary immigrated to Canada in 1949 and worked as a nurse in Altona Hospital, Teulon Hospital and Princess Elizabeth Hospital in Winnipeg. In accordance with her wished, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in First Mennonite Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
