GERALD WAYNE ELIAS Suddenly, but peacefully, on September 22, 1999, Gerald aged 58 passed away at his residence. He is survived by his wife Beverley; son Dwayne; daughter Deanne; sister Elaine Stokes; mother-in-law Edna Guarino; brother-in-law Charles Guarino; all of Winnipeg and brother-in-law Barry (Arlene) Guarino of White Rock, BC, and many nephews and niece. He was predeceased by his parents, Julia and Alex Elias, and father-in-law Charlie Guarino. Gerald was born August 4, 1941 and lived in Winnipeg all his life. He was Director of Laboratories at Misericordia Hospital for 33 years, retiring in 1996. Gerald had many interests and was a hockey coach for many years, enjoyed owning and racing horses at Assiniboia Downs, and most of all golfing with his buddies at Selkirk Golf and Country Club and fishing with friends. Pallbearers will be Wayne Elias, Johnny Johnson, Phil Faraci, Jerry Saltel, Ernie Kuch, and Jack Chester. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Kaufman of Toronto and Neil Crowson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family would like to thank Constable Bell and Levasseur of the Winnipeg Police Service and the emergency response unit for their care and compassion. Prayers will be said Sunday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 27, at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
