HAZEL KIRKPATRICK Auntie Hazel died September 17, 1999 at Grace Hospital. Hazel is survived by her sister-in-law Irene and nephew Bud and grandnieces, Nicole and Ginette of Saskatoon. Also her extended family Jane (Christie) Best, Janes son James in Calgary and her daughter Christie (Ron) Stewart, and their children Cory and Kryslyn in Brandon. Hazel was predeceased by her Uncle Bill, Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Greta Smith from Saskatoon, also her step-brother Leo (Marguerite) Brophy in Quebec. Hazel was born in Brantford, April 11, 1905. The family moved to Saskatoon when she was quite young. She worked for Sasktel 43 years. She moved to Winnipeg in 1974 to be closer to her lifelong best friend Vida (Keith) Christie and her family. Hazel lived with Bill and Jane for five years, until she became too ill late last year. The Best-Stewart families would like to thank the staff of Victoria Hospital 5th floor, especially Joan and support staff, and the staff of 4W Deer Lodge Center, especially Darlene for the wonderful loving care you all gave Auntie Hazel. She would often tell us how kind and friendly you all were. Also, a huge thanks to Penny Webber, who faithfully visited Hazel, particularly when Jane was away, and to Jean Wisdom, Hazels roommate at the Vic. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by the Ven. Bill Oakley at St. Bartholomew Anglican Church, 881 Autumnwood, Windsor Park. A private committal service will take place in Saskatoon later in the fall. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to St. Bartholomew Memorial Fund or the Humane Society. God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The Power to change the things I can, And the Wisdom to know the difference.
