ELIZABETH (ELSIE) MARY MURRAY Unexpectedly, on September 21, 1999 at Victoria General Hospital, Elsie beloved widow of the late John Alfred Murray passed away surrounded by her family. Elsie was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Robert Edward Stewart. She was born and raised in Winnipeg, receiving her education at Rupertsland Ladies College and The University of Manitoba. She was a life member of St. Agnes Guild, St. Andrews River Heights United Church, a long time member of The Winnipeg Winter Club, a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and, in recent years, an active mall walker at Grant Park Shopping Centre. She is survived by her three sons, Stewart and his wife Janis, Bob and his wife Maureen and Bruce and his wife Val as well as four beloved grandchildren, Michelle and Blair Murray, David Epp and his wife Danielle, and Heather Epp. Also surviving are her brother Merlin Stewart and dear sister-in-law Helen of Orillia, Ontario; two nephews, Don Stewart and his wife Sally, Robert Stewart and his wife Barbara and one niece, Elizabeth Penchoff and her husband Michael and their families. A kind, generous and caring person with a keen sense of humour, Elsie was a source of strength , wisdom and guidance to her family and friends alike. Her loyalty and compassion were an example for all. Elsie conducted her life with dignity and grace, no matter the circumstances. Her principles were unwavering. Her good nature and spirit shone through unfailingly. She always looked forward to summers at the family cottage near Winnipeg Beach where she enjoyed time spent with her family and neighbours and caring for her yard and flower gardens. She was thankful for the opportunities of her life and enjoyed her memories of travel to others parts of the world with her husband, John. Elsies warmth and positive outlook will forever be cherished. She will be deeply missed. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27. The family extends special thanks to Dr. V. Taraska and the staff of Victoria General Hospital, especially the nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
