NEL BAGER May 16, 1913 - September 24, 1999 After a courageous battle with cancer, Nel passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Sammy, as well as brothers, Charlie, Mike, Jack and beloved sister Belle. Nel was born and raised in St. Boniface, where she helped her mother in the running of the family store. In 1943 she married Sammy and together from the mid 1950s until retirement they worked hand in hand to successfully operate the Perths Cleaners franchise at McAdam and Main. During her retirement, because of her love for children and music, Nel devoted her energies to the Variety Club, the Shalom Residences, and the Womens Committee of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Up until six months prior to her death, Nel was an active, vibrant and energetic woman, participating in swimming, attending concerts, visiting and lunching with friends. Nel was also a voracious reader enjoying varied subject areas. Special relationships with her nieces Susan, Marla, Alayna, Pam and Kim, and her nephew Stephen were very important to her. Although often separated by distance, Nel always kept in close contact with family members and friends, through phone calls, cards and letters. Nel leaves to mourn her son Michael (Alice Dyna) sister-in-law Anne Morosnick; brothers-in-law Norman Bager (Judy), William Bager (Vicki) and sister-in-law Sonia Bellas (Eddie) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Rosh Pina Synagogue, with interment at Rosh Pina Memorial Park. Pallbearers, Norman Bager, Larry Saifer, Alayna Saifer, Susan Ermann, Jessie Putter, Zack Putter. Honorary Pallbearers, Abe Kleiman, Stephen Bager, William Bager, David Saifer, Jill Saifer, Jennifer Putter, Danny Butler and Mark Butler. In accordance with Nels wishes there will be no Shiva. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Nels favourite charities, or a charity of your choice.
