Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES WILLIAM MATTERN Suddenly on September 24, 1999 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Charles William Mattern, aged 67 years of Camper, Man. Charlie was born on August 5, 1932 on the family homestead in the Dog Lake District. He attended Dog Lake School and farmed with his parents until their passing. Charlie then moved to live with his sister Dorothy where he continued to farm. He worked as a welder for Price Acme and also drove truck for McRae Trucking at Marquette. Charlie was a very kind and generous man who never complained, although he had many opinions. He always had time for the young and the old, thus acquiring a host of friends. Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his sister Dorothy Schwitek; brother Phillip (Mary) sister Mina (Ed) Peltz; sister-in-law Dody Budge; brother-in-law Bill Smith; also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great great-nieces and great great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Phillip and Barbara; brother Ernest; sister Barbara; brother-in-law George Schwitek; niece Sharon Smith; nephews, Robert Peltz and Shaun Redmond. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Camper Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Lakeside Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be all his nieces and nephews and his trapping buddy Steven Tindall. Active pallbearers will be Grant and Neil Schwitek, Mark and Bill Peltz, Keith and Ernie Smith. Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28 at Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Viewing also at the hall prior to the service. The family would like to thank Dr. Piesas, Ashern Ambulance, nurses at S.I.C.U., especially Bev and Michelle, Jason, Sean and Dale, and the Emergency Response Team for the care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg or to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, c/o Runa Mangl, Ashern, Man.
