Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALDINE MARGUERITE DESJARLAIS (nee LAMBERT) It is in deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Geraldine Marguerite Desjarlais on September 28, 1999 at the MSA hospital in Abbotsford, B.C. Geraldine was born on February 26, 1924 in Fisher Branch, Man. and grew up in St. Laurent, Man. She was predeceased by her husband Jules Sr. in 1988; son Marvin, 1991; father Jules Lambert Sr., 1972; mother Jane (nee Sanderson), 1962; brothers, Oscar, 1996, Gilbert, 1988 and Jules Jr. (Ja-El), 1972; and sister Lillian Coutu in 1989. She married Jules on January 22, 1946 and raised their seven children in St. Laurent and Winnipeg. She is survived by her sons Jules Jr. (Lorraine), Edgar (Alice), Richard Sr., Glen (Arlene) daughters, Joelene (Dennis) Didora and Giselle and her sister Doreen Boss. She is survived by 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and had the opportunity to meet her newest great-granddaughter, Angelique, born on September 24, 1999 before her passing. She will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many good friends. Mom kept herself busy doing what she loved best, her Aboriginal beadwork and handicrafts. She spent many hours teaching the neighbourhood children the fine art of beadwork at the Friendship Centre on Alexander Avenue, where she was known as Mrs. D. Along with her husband Jules, they were known as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for the children and seniors in the area at Christmas. Pallbearers will be her sons Jules Jr., Edgar, Richard Sr., Glen, Dennis Didora and grandson Arthur. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Prayers will be on Sunday, October 3 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Home, 984 Portage Avenue with Father Kerbrat officiating. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (visitation at 10:30 a.m.) on Monday, October 4 at St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church in St. Laurent, Man., with Father Blanchette and Father Kerbrat officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the MSA Hospital in Abbotsford, B.C., St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg for their care of our mother in the last year.
