MARVEL BLANCHE PIRT Marvel Blanche Pirt (Trider), 75, formerly of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 28, 1999 in Campbell River, BC. Marvel endured a brave six-month struggle with lung and bone cancer and a painful four-year battle with emphysema. Marvel was born in Winnipeg in 1924 to Josephine Dorothy Reid of English/German background, and Harold Robert Reid, of Scottish background (born in Minneapolis). Marvel was a devoted and loving mother to son Bob and his wife Christine of Campbell River, with whom she lived and who cared for her until her death. She will be mourned by her adoring granddaughter Debbie and great-grandson Evan of Calgary. Sadly, Marvel lost her second son Gordie at the age of 12 and another son in infancy. During her four years in BC, Marvel simply doted on the accomplishments of Bob, Chris, Debbie and Evan and her pride and love for them shone like the sun. As long as she was able, Marvel loved to knit socks for Debbie, face-cloths for friends and teddy bears for Kosovan orphans. She was the worlds proudest mother and mom-in-law, a loyal friend, and a loving, compassionate listener. Marvel was not capable of harming or judging another living soul. Mourning her passing are sister-in-law Jan Scott, nephew Scott Gutteridge of Victoria, niece Lynn Hards (West Vancouver), nephew Ken Trider (Bahamas). In Manitoba she leaves to mourn her brother Gordon Trider, niece Elizabeth Trider and brother Haddie Reid all of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by sister, June Stewart. Marvel was widowed by Stewart Scott in 1967 and second husband Barry Pirt in 1994. A reception and prayers will be held in Marvels memory at home on Saturday, October 2, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at 1664 Passage View Dr., Campbell River, V9W 6L3. Following cremation, Marvel will be laid to rest beside her husband Stewart Scott at Capilano View Cemetery in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Campbell River Home Support Association, 427-10th Ave., Campbell River, BC V9W 4E4.

  • Grandma, it's been 15 years since you left us to enjoy your eternal life in heaven. Not a day has gone by that I don't think of you. Thank you for being so unconditional and nonjudgemental. I miss you terribly but think of you often, and your name lives on with my little girl. Love you always. XO - Posted by: Debb Roeke (Grand daughter) on: Sep 27, 2014
