VELMA DOREEN ROSS (nee HOWIE) It is with deep sorrow the family announces the peaceful passing of Velma Ross on September 28, 1999 at the Grace Hospital. Velma was born on December 27, 1935 and spent her early years in the Culross district. In 1944 the family moved to Elm Creek where she completed her schooling. After high school she worked for MTS in Elm Creek and later in Manitou. In 1967 she moved to Winnipeg to pursue a career in hairdressing that continued until her illness in July of this year. Throughout her career she made many long and lasting friendships with customers and co-workers alike. Velma was predeceased by her father Murray in 1961 and her mother Carrie in 1982. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters, Lorraine (Ernie) Neufeld of Rocanville, SK and Shirley (Gordon) Goossen of Winnipeg; nephews, Donald (Kim) Neufeld of Edmonton, Dennis Neufeld of Spy Hill, Murray (Barb) Neufeld of Moosomin, George (Debbie) Neufeld of Winnipeg; nieces, Charlene (Adolf) Neufeld and Janice Litwin, both of Winnipeg; 15 great-nieces and nephews; special niece Kathy Singer and cousin Marvelle McPherson. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital for the care given to Velma. A special thanks to friends, Alice and Helen for their unending help and support during Velmas illness. At Velmas request, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at the Elm Creek Cemetery in Elm Creek, MB on Saturday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. Friends are invited to join the family for coffee and remembrances from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, at 15 Stillwater Rd. in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Elm Creek Cemetery Committee, Box 107 Elm Creek, MB R0G 0N0 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9, would be appreciated.
