HELEN ALMER DESJARLAIS-ZABER (nee FLEURY) Peacefully and surrounded with the love of her family, Mom was called into Gods Kingdom on September 29, 1999 at the Riverview Health Centre. Mom leaves to mourn her passing, her lifelong partner Bill and their children, Ron, Raymond, Margaret, Dennis (Theresa), Timothy (Sharon), and Donna, all of Winnipeg, and Colin of Vancouver, BC. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Ron Jr., David, Pamela, Joseph, Jason, Jaimie, BJ, Danny, Kelsey, Tyler, Marsha, Tara, Timothy Jr., Mark, Shantel, and Sara and great-grandchildren, Nicole and Christina Desjarlais. Mom also leaves to mourn her relatives and friends including her sisters and brothers, Joyce and Eric Widmark, Edna and Mel Dale, George and Janet Fleury, Gabe and Heidi Fleury, Louis Fleury, Adolph Fleury, all of Enderby, BC, and Lou Dale of Edmonton, AB, Norbert of Peyton, SK, and Alvin and Harry McAuley of Sayword, BC. Mom was predeceased by her parents; three brothers and grandchildren, Peter Desjarlais (1999), Trevor Rusnak (1998) and Brittany Rusnak (1988). Our mother devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Mom enjoyed preparing the numerous feasts for all the holidays and special occasions throughout the years. Mom also supported her children and grandchildren always willing to be there for them when they called. Mom also enjoyed her many handcrafts from cooking, baking, canning, knitting, crocheting, quilt making, sewing. As well Mom loved her flowers, especially roses and always enjoyed her garden. In the community Mom was known for all of her acts of kindness. Over the years, our parents lent many a helping hand to neighbours, relatives and friends in need from time to time. Mom never closed the door on anyone and always had a bite to eat for everyone. In her later years, Mom enjoyed her social evenings with her sister-in-law Jean Flett, traversing the country and the U.S. for bingo and casinos to pass the time for pleasure. Prayers will be said on Monday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River. Rev. Fr. S. Argenziano celebrant. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ron Jr., David, BJ, Danny, Joseph, and Jason. Our family would like to thank all of the great staff at the Riverview Health Centre for their care and attention shown to our mother and our family.
