VERNON EDWARD LOVELL-SIMONS D.M / G.P.M / C.V.P./ E.D. It is with deep sorrow that the family of Vernon Edward Lovell-Simons announces his passing at the age of 85 on September 30, 1999. Vernon is survived by his loving wife Eleanora; daughters Margaret, Aurelie, Joan; son Vernon; grandchildren, Ruth, Joan, Tom, Shelly, Cathy, Nora, Cherilyn, Jenifer, Christopher; and four great grandchildren. Vernon is predeceased by his parents; sister Doris; and brother Cecil. Vernon was born in Winnipeg, Man. on February 9, 1914 and has been a lifelong resident of the province ever since, attending school in the Fort Rouge area. Vernon served several years as Trumpet Major with the Strathcona Horse Cadets and five years overseas with The Fort Gary Horse Artillery unit. During his term overseas Vernon received several medals for service including the Efficient Service medal. Returning from overseas Vernon found employment in the accounting branches of the Federal Government Department of Veterans affairs and later, the Manitoba Government with the Highways and Natural Resources Departments. Vernon retired at age 62 and enjoyed his retirement years with Eleanora on their small acreage in Lockport Man. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 1999 at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with the Reverend Cliff McMillan of Shaughnassy United Church officiating. A reception will take place after the service at the same location. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
