INGWALD R. (BOB) SCRAMSTAD It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear dad and grandfather, Bob Scramstad on September 29, 1999 in Selkirk in his 84th year. Bob is survived by his children, Leonard (Vivian), Cathy Furnish (Michael), Alan (Alison), Cliff (Colleen), Elaine (Jane), Gordon (Penni) and grandchildren, Lee, Jon (Lorraine), Sandy, Geoff, Carolyne, Robert, Carla, Reed, Carly, Leah, and Rachel; as well as numerous devoted nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy in 1981; sisters, Ella Holland, Florence Martin, Alice Christie and Mary Johnstone and his brothers, Oscar, Gustave, Elmer, Clarence, Harry and Otto. Bob was born in Starbuck, MB on October 15, 1915. He married Dorothy Bussell in 1942. They settled in Selkirk, MB where they raised their family. Bob was employed at the Manitoba Rolling Mills for 38 years and was a proud member of USWA 5442. He served his country in the Second World War as a member of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. Bob was honoured with a life membership for his many years of service to Branch 42 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Bob enjoyed so many things in life - a good political discussion, the first tomatoes of the season, a big slice of vinarterta, time with his grandchildren, cheering on the Steelers, long drives in the country, his favourite chair, Saturday nights at the Legion, singing and whistling and especially the company of friends and family. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private interment of the ashes will take place before the service. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Legion Padre Peter Cain officiating. Fellow members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 42 will form a Guard of Honour and hold Legion Rites. Sincere thanks are extended to the Selkirk General Hospital for their efforts and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Go forward into the future bravely, and unafraid.
