EDITH BEATRICE MOORE 1903 - 1999 On Wednesday, September 29 at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Edith (Nana) peacefully passed away in her 97th year. She was born at Warrington, Lancashire, England, July 24, 1903 and was the last surviving member of her family. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Leveret DeVeber Moore, grandson Douglas Earl Ward and son-in-law Lionel Grant. She is survived by her three children Margaret (Thomas) Ward of Calgary, Gladys Grant, Larry (Lorraine) Moore of Winnipeg; grandchildren Greg (Darlene) Ward, Brian (Elizabeth) Ward of Calgary, Jeff (Solveig) Ward of Sippy Downs, Queensland, Australia, Tom (Michele) Grant of Winnipeg, Kelly Dawn (Glenn) McPherson of Grosse Isle, Manitoba, Allison (Jeremy) Burke of Toronto, Blair (Kelly) Moore of Winnipeg; great grandchildren Earl and Emily Ward, Justin and Jonathan Ward, Cole and Taryn Grant and Arabella Moore and also many cousins, nieces and nephews in England, Australia and Canada. When Edith was four years old she went to live with her maternal grandparents in Dublin, Ireland, where she received her education. In 1921 she immigrated with her grandparents to Canada and settled on a farm at Lake Frances, Manitoba. Here she met and married her husband DeVeber, and in 1928 moved to Winnipeg. Her life was devoted to her family and her church. Edith was a member of St. Albans Church for over 55 years, dedicating her time and talents to the Mothers Union and the St. Albans Quilters. All her life she kept busy sewing, crocheting and knitting, but quilting was her true joy. For her dedication to the church, she was awarded the Order of St. Alban in 1985. Edith worked many years in Eatons as one of the Candy Girls. One of the greatest pleasures was the time she spent at the family cottage at Betula Lake, fishing, berry picking and just being with her family. The family would like to thank the staff at The Golden Door Geriatric Centre for the loving care they have given mother. A service celebrating Ediths life will be held at St. Albans Anglican Church, at Rathgar and Osborne on Wednesday, October 6, at 1:00 p.m. IVE DONE MY WORK Ive done my work; Ive sung my song; Ive done some good; Ive done some wrong; And I shall go where I belong The Lord has willed it so. He knows my heart, and every thought. He knows what pain and joy Ive brought His love I shall be taught, The way to him I know. He knows my soul, so weak and blind, So full of fears of mortal mind, And he will lead, and I shall find The way to Him, I know He guides my steps, and He knows best, He will not harm where He is blest, And so goodnight, Ill take my rest Where sweet wild roses grow. In lieu of flowers, Edith wished that donations be made to the St. Albans Memorial Fund, 486 Rathgar, R3L 1G3, or a charity of your choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
