PAUL BERNARD CARIGNAN It is with heaviest of hearts and deepest sorrow that we must announce the passing of Paul Bernard Carignan, 65 years, of Winnipeg. After a courageous battle with cancer he passed quietly into the night with his family by his side. Paul is survived by his children, Kevin (Kate) Carignan of Connecticut and Krista (Tony) Holder; granddaughters, Natasha and Chanelle. Paul is also survived by his long time friend and companion Lorraine Andrew; sisters, Julie Herback of Regina, Gilberte Couture of Winnipeg, Lisa Shingera of Airdrie, AB., Rejeanne Carignan of Edmonton, and Bernadette Williams of Calgary; brothers, Gaston Carignan of Ponteix, Armand Carignan and Guy Carignan both of Edmonton. Paul was predeceased by his brother Marcel and sisters Claire and Armande. He was born April 11, 1934 in Ponteix, Saskatchewan where he grew up working on the family farm, later moving to Winnipeg and working for Continental Can Company. Later he worked for R. W. Packaging in Winnipeg and finally for Niakwa Golf Club. Paul will be remembered by all as a person who was never without a joke to tell. He truly loved to make us laugh, and even to the end he managed to maintain a wonderful sense of humor. Viewing will take place October 5, between 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion Street. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday October 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St. with Reverend Fr. James Gray presiding. Interment to follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jocelyn House, 177 Egerton Rd. Winnipeg, MB. R2M 2W7. Jocelyn House is a wonderful place full of caring individuals who made sure Paul was comfortable and maintained his dignity right till the end. Special thanks to Giselle Lapointe and all of the staff for their care and concern. P. COUTU & CO FUNERAL DIRECTORS 156 Marion Street 949-4864
