He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Wanless), brother of Blanche (Hal), Doris and Irene. He was uncle and great uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish his memories are sisters-in-law, Ethel (Jim), Ferne, Marion (Jim). Don was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion holding office in the Duke of Kent Memorial Branch 119 as well as the Manitoba/Northwest Ontario Command for over twenty years. He has donated his remains to Onocology and Cell Research. Consequently, no service will be held at this time. Internment of his cremated remains will be at a later date in Brookside Cemetery with full Legion Servie. No flowers please. If one so wishes, a donation in Dons memory may be made to either the St. Boniface Kidney Foundation or Cancer Palliative Care in St. Boniface Hospital. God saw him getting tired And a cure was not to be, So He put His arm around him And whispered Come with Me. With tearful eyes we watched his suffer And saw him fade away, Althoug we loved him dearly We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating Hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
