Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHELMA KATHALEEN DAVIS nee (MEADOWS) Peacefully with courage and dignity surrounded by her family, Thelma passed away in the early morning of October 3, 1999 to be in the arms of our Lord. Thelmas memory will be cherished by her loving husband of 49 years Raymond; daughter Shawna Selci, husband Mike, and daughter Glennis Wittenberg, husband Eric. She will be sadly missed by her five grandchildren, Kendall, Erin, Samantha, Jayden and Cameron who lovingly called her Bamma. She is also survived by her brother Mervin Meadows, brother-in-law Hal Davis, sister-in-law Audrey Davis, cousin Kay Kinnear as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Winnifred Meadows, sisters Marjorie, Myrtle, Irene and Christina. Thelma was born in Griswold, MB., raised in Oak Lake and attended Oakwood school. She graduated as a teacher from Brandon Normal School in 1940 and taught at Austin, Hargrave, Crandall, Virden Collegiate, The Pas Jr. High School and St. James S.D. No. 7. Her primary teaching area was literature and composition and in grammatical structure and punctuation she had few peers. She taught Sunday school and as a volunteer taught English to Canadian immigrants. Thelma was a devoted wife and exceptional mother, grandmother and outstanding homemaker. Recreationally, Thelma was an avid reader and she enjoyed dancing, five-pin bowling, most sports both as a player and spectator and travelled extensively. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Drs. R.J. Boyd and L. Jugloff for the outstanding personal medical and emotional care provided. Also appreciated was the dedicated staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th floor, unit3. Visitation will be held from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., Thursday, October 7th, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 8th, at St. James Presbyterian Church, 1476 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Thelma Davis may be made to the Society of Manitobans with Disabilities, Hard of Hearing Services, 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1M5. The road was long, you travelled far down lifes long winding lane. The love you gave to all of us will in our hearts remain. At Journeys end you worked so hard, no more will there be pain.
