Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOSWALD READER 1906 - 1999 After 93 years of a good and full life, Oswald Reader passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4th at the Misericordia Health Centre. He is survived by Tillie, his beloved wife of 68 years; son Ronald (Phyllis) grandchildren, Regan, Ryan and Randal; daughter Dianne and granddaughter Devon Haag of Vancouver BC; sister Martha Mauer of Dearborn, Mich; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The eldest son of Rudolf and Emma Reder, Oswald was born on May 21, 1906 in Kybartai Lithuania. He was predeceased by his parents and by his brothers, Eric, Arthur, Edmund and sister Hulda. After immigrating to Canada in July 1929, he eventually settled in Winnipeg where he worked for Swifts Canada and then as an insurance salesman. In 1951 he became a real estate agent and after a short while he started his own real estate company, where his ability to speak six languages helped build a successful business. Oswald worked tirelessly in his chosen field to provide generously for his family, who were of prime importance to him all his life. Oswald was a very giving and loving person. The family wishes to express its gratitude and appreciation to the Staff of Wolseley 2 at the Misericordia Health Centre who provided kind care and attention to our Husband and Dad. The family also extends thanks and appreciation to Dr. Oscar Domke and all the 5th floor staff of Victoria General Hospital. A celebration of Oswalds life will take place on Friday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. with the Rev. Robert Campbell of Westminster United Church officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Oswalds memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
