LOUIS FERDINAND LALONDE It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Louis Lalonde, our father and grandfather. Louis was born in St. Boniface on April 8, 1910. During the Second World War he served in the medical corps. He later married our mother Gabrielle and together they had six children. Louis was devoted to his family, active in his church and community and dedicated to many charities. He was employed at Deer Lodge Hospital until his retirement in 1975. He then continued to work relentlessly as a volunteer for several charitable organizations, especially with the Sisters of Charity, where he will be remembered for his sensitivity to the plight of the poor, the hungry and the sick. He enjoyed singing in choirs at Assomption, Precieux-Sang, Ste-Marie and others and was also an honourary member of The Knights of Columbus. He will be sadly missed by Gabrielle; his children, Louisa, Denis, Joanne (Edouard Jeanson) of Winnipeg, Michel (Patricia) of Ste. Anne, Marc (Magalie) and Jacqueline (James) of Montreal and his grandchildren, Raphael, Christopher, Dudley, Myla, Jaclyn, Joelle and Kenny. He will be fondly remembered by his brother William (Stella) his sisters, Anita (Michael Albo), Yvette (Leandre Boily) and Grace Jodoin; his sisters-in-law, Anita Lalonde, Yvette (Henri Gauthier), Lucette Jobin and his brothers-in-law, Andre (Clothilde), Germain (Julianna), Roland (Alice) and Lionel Dondo. A celebration of Louis life will be held on Friday, October 8, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Cathedral with Msgr. Albert Frechette presiding. Interment will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff in the Intensive Care Unit and U6 at Seven Oaks Hospital who cared for his needs and respected his dignity during the final days of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missionaries of Charity, 356 Pritchard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2W 2J6.
