MELBOURN WILSON Peacefully, on October 3, 1999, Melbourn Wilson passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital after a lengthy illness at the age of 60 years. Melbourn was predeceased by his father Sidney Wilson and mother Mathilde Wilson. He is survived by his daughter Nicollette of Winnipeg; three brothers, Ishmael, Lebert and David; sister Ivy of Jamaica; nephew Jerry (Etta) Flake of Winnipeg; Beverly Watson and family; Marjorie Adams, his care giver and family; and many, many friends. Melbourn was born in St. Thomas, Jamaica, West Indies on July 27, 1939. He immigrated to London, England in 1958 and lived there for a number of years. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1968 and was employed with CNR. Melbourn received his 25th year award from CNR in 1995 and retired after 27 years from CNR. Melbourn was a member of the Afro Caribbean Association of Manitoba. Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 7 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. The funeral service will take place on Friday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m., also in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave., with Rev. Neville Phills officiating. Interment to follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street. We would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital on the 5th floor, unit 2 and Dr. Nyoff. We are grateful for the team of home care workers, who looked after Melbourn with lots of loving care. Also Gayle the physiotherapist at Deer Lodge Hospital, and all the home care staff at 2015 Portage Avenue. We cannot, Lord, the purpose see, but what is done is good by thee.
