THOMAS MCMILLAN MALCOLM On October 3, 1999 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Tom Malcolm passed away at the age of 74. Born September 24, 1925 in Dumbarton, Scotland, Tom immigrated to Canada in the 1950s. Toms love as a Scotsman for his place of birth are best described in this poem found in his bible. Dumbarton Memories Im far away from Scotland, far from her bosky glens, Her lovely lakes and rivers anf lofty, towering bens; Far from where my forefolks sleep, and friends I loved langsyne, Aye, friends I never will forget while beats this heart of mine. But my thoughts go back to Scotland, to a place upon the Clyde Where the Castle of Dumbarton rears its head in stately pride; I see again Dumbucks steep hill, and wander round Garshake, And up the dear old Barnhill Brae a walk I often take. In fancy, too, I often tread the old paths oer and oer, Out Glasgow Road, down Lovers Lane, along the Cornel shore; Then back again the same old way my wandering steps oft turn Up Silverton to Struans Well, and home by the Ropework Burn; Then, raoming through the Murrich Glen or climbing Binnies Brae, Or on the moorland heather when my heart was young and gay, Or wandering through the Public Park wi someone by my side, Then down the length of Cardross along the banks of Clyde. But its just in dreams I see them for Im far across the main, And those pleasant scenes of boyhood I will never see again. Left to mourn are his wife Jacki(e; )son-s, Steven, Scott, Neil and Daughter Virginia; a sister Ann Duffield and family; sister-in-law Dana Malcolm and family. Predeceased by his Mother, Father and older Brother. Cremation has taken place and at his request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to give special thanks to his sister Ann for her dedication in caregiving these last few months. There will be an open house at #1-31 Jack Donner Drive from 11:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, October 10, for family and friends.
