Helen was born on October 6, 1946 in Deloraine, Manitoba, elder daughter of Stuart and Hilda Sexton. She received her early education at Bidford school and in Deloraine, before going on to Brandon College, the University of Manitoba and the University of British Columbia. She began her teaching career in Deloraine in 1967. In 1968, Helen married James Wallace (Wally) Seipp in Regent and resided in Deloraine, where they both taught at the Collegiate. In 1971, Helen Wally moved to the Yukon intending to stay for only two years, but the magic of the country captured them forever. It was ther that they raised their two daughters, Carla and Anna. The girls grew to understand their mothers love of life and education and they are both planning to continue their studies at the University of Victoria in the new year. Carla and Anna will always be Helens pride and joy. Helen was an active woman with many interests, but her two passions were her family and teaching. She led a busy and full life and Helens happiest times were spent with her family and friends. She has a life long love of music and would often be heard singing or seen dancing whenever the spirit moved her. Helens love of the outdoors was obvious to all who knew her and joined her on her many outings - be it identifying the many wild birds and flowers, skiing, or hiking. Helen loved a challenge and she ultimately conquered her fear of flying and the water to more fully enjoy the outdoors. For Helen, teaching was a vocation and she embraced all that it had to offer. She taught French from grades one through twelve, first in Mayo, and later at F.H. Collins Secondary, Selkirk Elementary and Riverdale Junior High. She was teh teacher-librarian at Whitehorse Elementary School at the time of her passing. Helen was admired by her colleagues and students alike for her enthusiasm for children, her willingness to share, and her love of learning. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her dignity and grace and for her kind and generous manner. Helen is survived by her loving husband, friend and dancing partner, Wally; daughters, Carla and Anna; parents Stuart and Hilda Sexton; sister Allison and husband Bearry Warsaba of Morden, Man. and their daughter Jill. On Sunday, October 3 a "Celebration of Life" service was held in Whitehorse. A similar service will be held at the Mountainview Center in Deloraine on Saturday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. Helens ashes will be spread in the Yukon.
