RALPH INGRAM THIRD It is with sadness that the family of Ralph Ingram Third announces his passing on October 8, 1999 at the Health Sciences Centre. Ralph was born on December 16, 1919 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He immigrated with his parents to Morris, Manitoba in 1926 and later moved to Winnipeg. Ralph married Anne Zelniuk on March 9, 1940. Dad was employed with CP Rail until his retirement in 1983. Ralph was an active member of the Khartum Shriners, Life Member and Past-President of the Chanters Unit of the Shrine, Past-Chairman of the Shriners Sick and Visiting (Sunshine) Committee, a member of the Scottish Rite and Past-Master of Lord Selkirk Masonic Lodge. He served on the Stop Burn Injuries Committee and volunteered with the Cancer Society. He was a Past-President of the Civic Caledonian Curling Club and a founding member of the Splake Game and Fish Association. Dad enjoyed tending his flowers and plants at home and at the cottage; he treasured family gatherings where he could play with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but most of all he loved to sing. Though he never had formal training Ralph received great joy adding his voice in song whether it be with the Chanters, the Happy Homesteaders or at home with family. Dad will be warmly missed by Sandra and Jake Loewen, Valdene and John Johnson; granddaughters, Geri Johnson, Pam and Jim McCallum, Diane and Jamie Hancock, Cindy and Brian Koltalo; great-grandchildren, Shauna Hancock and Keenan and Graham McCallum and many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. Ralph was predeceased by his wife Anne in 1997; parents, Robert and Margaret Third; brothers, Delmar and George, sister Betty McLennan and their spouses Isabel (Mac) and Danny. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway. The family would like to express thanks to the staff and doctors of GD3 and GA3 wards at the Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patient Transportation Fund (for children) c/o Shrine Temple, 529 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg, R2M 0A5. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS, 783-7211.
