LORRAINE APPLIN (nee WALTERS) It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and our best friend Lorraine, after a determined and courageous battle with cancer, on the morning of October 8, 1999. Lorraine will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Ed; her children Colleen, Bruce (Cindy), Jo-Anne (Randy), Karen (Shane) and by the pride and joys of her life, her grandchildren, Danny and Jamie. She is also survived by her brother Pat (Eileen) Walters and her sister Arlene (Roger) Starr, and her sister-in-law Evelyn Foster. Lorraine will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear cherished friends. She was predeceased by her parents Leslie and Aquin Walters, her in-laws William and Gladys Elford and her brother-in -law Trevor Foster. Lorraine was born on May 21, 1942 in Winnipeg and met her life companion Ed in 1956. They married in 1961 and settled in Windsor Park to raise their family. Over the years Lorraine worked for many market research companies, eventually opening her own successful company, LA Research, which she worked so hard on and was so very proud of. Mom had many interests including reading, travelling her many pets over the years, including her faithful companions "Mikey & Poupee" and especially the Sunday barbecues with her family. She was a very special person to all, in that she would always be there to lend a hand or just to listen to anyone who needed it, always putting their needs in front of her own. Her strength and determination was evident in all aspects of her life, including her belief to never give up, which she followed through right until her passing. She put up a long hard fight which was unbelievable and one we are profoundly proud of! Rest in Peace Mom We Love You Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Father James Gray presiding. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those involved in Moms care throughout her illness, with special mention to Dr. Barker, Dr. Navaratram and Dr. Daeninck and all the staff on 6A ward at the St. Boniface Hospital. We would also like to thank the very special people at the Cancer Society. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9. P.
