JAMES MALYON FERRIS Peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 1999, at the Portage General Hospital, James Malyon Ferris, beloved husband of Flo Kitson, passed away quietly in the presence of his daughter Cathy and wife, following a brief illness. Jim was was born on January 10, 1935 to Annie Malyon and Vincent Ferris of MacDonald, Manitoba, where he was raised and educated at Belle Plain, MacDonald, and the Portage Collegiate Institute. At a young age, Jim assumed the responsibility for his younger brother and sisters upon the early passing of his mother in 1955 and his father in 1960, and was always proud of his accomplishments. With the exception of the years spent in Edmonton, he spent his life in farming and was active in various community activities. In his retirement, he spent many hours at his various wood working projects, both here and during his winters in Texas. Jims other passions were golf and shooting pool, which he enjoyed during his winter stays in Texas. Jim was a proud, loving and devoted father to his two children; Ken and Cathy, by his former wife Fay. He is deeply mourned by his wife Flo whom he married in 1996, his children Kenneth (Marcie) and Cathy (Kevin) brother Carl and Iris of MacDonald, sister Joan and Kel Henry of St. Anne, Man., Nora and Don Edigar of Glenboro and brother-in-law Ron Black, of Glenboro, Man. Also missing him are members of Flos family, Jory and Laurie Kitson, Andrea and Danny Smart, Peggy Kitson and step-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister Mazo Black in 1992. The tide recedes and leaves behind, Bright sea shells in the sand, The sun goes down, but a gentle warmth Still lingers on the land. The music stops, and yet, It lingers on in sweet refrain, For every joy that passes Something beautiful remains. In keeping with Jims wishes, a private graveside service will be held for the immediate family in the Glenboro Cemetery, Glenboro, Man. If friends so desire, contributions to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, would be appreciated.
