CORNELIUS J. RIEDIGER 1923 - 1999 Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at his residence in Tabor Home in Morden, Manitoba on October 9, 1999 at the age of 76. Left to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Sue (Hoeppner) of 51 years; daughter Bertha; sons, Neil (grandson Jordan), Ken (Joyda and granddaughters, Launi and Jamie). He is also survived by sisters, Helen (Enns) and Esther (Dave Reimer) brothers, Jake (Mary) and Abe (Frieda) and many nieces and nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by an infant son; his parents Jacob P. and Helena; brother William and an infant sister. Cornie was a good husband, father and grandfather. He no only provided for our material needs but also spiritual needs. He made friends easily and related to people in a way that made him loved and respected. He accepted the Lord as his Saviour early in life and served Him in his church, CBMC and Gideons. After retirement from business, he served as office manager at the Manitoba MB Conference for 10 years. Besides operating a successful business in Manitou, he was also active in his community by serving as mayor, school board, Boundaries Commission, Turkey Marketing Board, Chamber of Commerce, president of the Kinsmen Club and coach of minor hockey. He loved to travel and visited Africa, Australia and Europe. He was especially happy to make his last trip with Sue to Holland and revisit the time spent in Europe during the war. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tabor Home for their kindness and care. A celebration of Cornelius life will be held at the Westside Community Church, 831 Thornhill W., in Morden on Tuesday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cornelius memory may be made to a charity of choice. Wiebes Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements.
