KATHERINE HARDER On Friday, October 8, 1999, at the Carberry Hospital, Katherine Harder of Gladstone, widow of William Harder, passed away at the age of 81 years. Funeral service will be held at the Sommerfelder Mennonite Church, MacGregor, on Friday, October 15, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at the Sommerfelder Cemetery. Katherine was born on January 12, 1918, daughter of Abraham and Aganetha Schellenberg. On August 15, 1937, she married William Harder. They farmed at Beverley until 1939 when they moved to Gladstone, where they farmed until their retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Knox Friends and Neighbours and an active participant in the Bear Creek School District functions. She and her husband were members of the Sommerfelder Church while at Beverley, SK. They were one of the founding members of the Bergthaler Church at Mayfeld, MB and were members of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada Churches in Neepawa and Gladstone. Mom and Dad were strong supporters of the Full Gospel Businessmens Fellowship Chapter of Gladstone. One of the highlights of Mothers life was when she went to Israel with Willard and Betty Thiessen, hosts of Its A New Day, Winnipeg. Mom was well known for her compassion, hospitality and generosity. Her unwavering faith in God sustained her during many difficult times even in the final hours. Predeceased by her parents; her husband William; infant son John; infant great-granddaughter Karen and infant grandson Kyle; four brothers, two sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Abraham William (Bill) and Pat; David and Janice, all of Gladstone, four daughters, Edna and James Mattson of Winnipeg; Sylvia and Paul Asmundson of MacGregor; Judith Harder of Brandon; Leona and Robert Beamish of Hamiota, MB; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and two sisters. Friends may call at the Omega Funeral Chapel, 83 Royal Rd., S., Portage la Prairie, for visitation on Thursday evening, October 14, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Project, care of The Carberry Hospital, Carberry, MB, R0K 0H0, or the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9, the Salvation Army, 524-7th St., N.W., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 2L5 or charity of choice. The Omega Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
