WILFRED THOMAS MATTHEWS Peacefully on Monday, October 11, 1999 at the Riverview Health Centre, Wilfred Matthews passed away at the age of 73 years. Wilfred will be sadly missed by five sons, Harley of Fisher Branch, MB, Howard (Debra) of Thunder Bay, ON, Craig (Theresa) of Barrie, ON, Bruce (Suzanne) of Unionville, ON and William (Christa) of The Pas, MB; seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; sister Vera Campbell of Peterborough; three brothers, Gordon of Kimberley, Melvin of Stonewall and Marnie of Edmonton; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Nora in 1988, and his special friend Betty Kennington who died in 1998. Wilfred was a long standing member of The Imperial Vets Legion. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy. Wilfred was employed with Canada Post for 25 years, retiring at the age of 60 years. Visitation 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14 at Bardal Funeral Home. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 15 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Interment of cremated remains at Brookside Cemetery, Field of Honour.
