BUFF RICHARDSON 1921 - 1999 Peacefully, on Saturday, October 9, 1999, Buff passed away at CPL Poseidon Care Centre. He was predeceased by his parents, Buff and Lillian Richardson. He will be remembered by his wife, Marge, of 52 years; his son Buff (Linda) grandsons, Buff and Geoffrey; and his daughter Shelley and grandson David. Buff was born and raised in Winnipeg, In his youth, he was an excellent athlete, especially in baseball, where he was regarded as one of the best second basemen in Winnipeg in the 30s. During the Second World War, Buff served overseas with the R.C.A.F. After the war, he attended United College while managing the Coronation Lanes. In 1949, Buff started work for the Provincial Government as a health inspector, serving first in Flin Flon and then returning to finish his career in Transcona and St. Boniface. He retired in 1986. While in Flin Flon, Buff continued his love of sports by umpiring baseball, an activity he kept up on his return to Winnipeg. Ten pin bowling was another of Buffs passions in which he participated until he was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease in his early 70s. The family would like to thank the exceptionally caring staff at CPL Poseidon Care Centre, especially those on the second floor, for the loving care shown to Buff during his stay there and for the kindness shown to his family in the last few days. At Buffs request, immediate cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, or to a charity of their choice.
