EDWARD ALFRED WALKER With sadness we announce the passing of our brother Edward Alfred Walker on Sunday, October 10, 1999 at his residence in Plumas, MB, at the age of 69 years. Ed, son of Sophie and Adam Walker, was born on October 26, 1929 in the Maitland District. He remained in the area until the fall of 1993, when he moved his house to Plumas. Ed lived a very active life. He, along with his brother Ray and nephew Tom, farmed in the Tupper District until the time of his passing. The only interruption to farming was the Plumas Pirates ball game. It was quite well known that the tractor would come to a stop so Ed could keep score and hand out those quarters to kids retrieving the balls. Ed always found time to take an active part in the Plumas community. Ed sat on the executive board for the Plumas Curling Club and Plumas Agricultural Society. He was a member of the Plumas Legion, Senior Citizens, Zion Lutheran Church, and Whitemud Watershed Board. Ed was treasurer for the Plumas Pirates and Tupper Reunion, and also enjoyed being drawmaster for the Ladies Curling Club. Ed had a love for curling and had the opportunity to attend the Silver Broom in various countries. He was predeceased by his mother Sophie in 1998 and his father Adam in 1971. Left to mourn his passing are his brother Ray (Alice) and sister Gertie (Reinhold Kreutzer) his nieces, Cheryl (Kieran Gillett), Kathy (Rick Berry), and Lori Kreutzer; step-nephew Tom Yandeau (Shelly) great-nephews and nieces, Ryan and Shawna Gillett, Liam and Dylan Berry, Chelsey, Kylee and Zachary Yandeau. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church, Plumas, with Pastor Richard Klein officiating. Interment will follow in the Tupper Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Single, Ronny Smith, Harold Wutke, Wilfred, Delvin, and Walter Walker. Honorary pallbearers are the Plumas Pirates baseball team. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Plumas Senior Citizens Community Hall, Box 175, Plumas, MB R0J 1P0. Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone, in care of arrangements. You were our big brother who we loved dear, When we needed help you were always near. Its hard to believe we have to say goodbye As our family gathers to shed a tear and cry. Our Uncle was one terrific guy We were always the apples of his eye. We never met him without a smile For us, he would walk a mile. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends For on his energy and smiles we could always depend And with the memories we now all share We now know, you always did care.
