FRANCO CASTELLI Passed away peacefully, during his sleep, at the age of 60 years, after a courageous one year battle with cancer. Franco will be fondly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Hilary; son, Victor (Karen) daughter, Elizabeth; his mother Maria Castelli; two sisters, Francesca and Gabrella; extended family in Italy and by his friends in Winnipeg, whom he considered his second family, especially Joe Colosimo, Ugo Cesario and Mario Turmzo and their families. Franco will be deeply missed by the Knights of Columbus, Holy Rosary Council, of which he was a member for many years. He was born on October 18, 1938 near Rome, Italy, and he moved to Winnipeg in November of 1969. After working in the restaurant business for a number of years he bought and operated La Vieille Gare and Candles Restaurants. Franco worked extremely hard to provide for his family. He provided his wife with a comfortable life after his death and was very generous to both his children. Franco was an emotional man who was passionate about family, friends, food and sports. Unfortunately his brief retirement was cut short by his untimely ordeal with cancer. During his final struggle with the disease, when his condition deteriorated and his family and friends were very upset he said to them, Non piangere or Dont cry. So please remember all of the good times with Franco and Dont cry. Prayers will be said on Friday, October 15, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. from Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. also from Holy Rosary Parish, with Rev. Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will follow in Holy Angel Mausoleum at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222 - 3241
