JOHANNA (JOAN) MCINNES (nee ANDERSEN) Our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grand-mother, special friend, neighbour, volunteer, community worker and religiously faithful Joan passed away on Wednesday October 13, 1999 in Erickson Hospital after a short illness. Joan was born in Dillon, Montana, USA on October 18, 1911 and was the eldest of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. A.H. After that Joan continued living independently and productively in this home until her recent admission to the Erickson Hospital. She was a long time avid curler and was a life member of the Erickson Ladies Curling Club. Joan and Lachie were married for 61 years when Lachie passed away. She was also predeceased by her son Clare, one granddaughter, Susan McInnes and a sister, Kathleen. Joan leaves to celebrate her 88 years of living, loving, caring and giving, her sister Olga Nichol; brothers John, Hans, Andy and Albert Andersen. It is with everlasting love, great pride and profound sadness that Joanis children, grandchildren and great grandchildren say goodbye to their matriarch whose strength of character and unqualified affection has been a source of guidance and unity for the entire family: Son Leslie McInnes (Betty) and their children Laurie and Wayne Jackson, Shelley and Kevin Searle, Cameron and Arden McInnes; Daughter Gwen Steiman (Gary) and their children Tannis and Michael Scott, Sharon and Laurie Gorenstein and Brad Steiman; Daughter in law Alice McInnes and her children Sherri and Rick Burgess, Leslie and Harvey Rintoul, Trent and Louise McInnes and Lanny McInnes and Daughter in law Shirley McInnes. The family acknowledges and thanks Dr. Vic Amarasekera and the nursing staff and volunteers at the Erickson Hospital for the complete attention and full care they provided during Joanis battle with cancer. In addition, the family thanks Pastor Lanny Knutson of the Erickson Lutheran Church and the many friends and neighbors who gave Joan spiritual guidance and companionship throughout the duration of her illness. Funeral services will be held at Erickson Lutheran Church on Monday October 18, 1999 at 2:00 PM.
