MR. FRED DEVLIN On October 14, 1999 at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Fred Devlin passed away peacefully, with great courage and dignity, after a lengthy illness. Fred is survived by his wife Eileen; daughters Colleen (Roland) Blouin of Winnipeg, Patti of Montreal and Dianne (Leo) Takasaki of Victoria, B.C.; also six grandchildren David, Paul, Jaimie, Travis, Tyson and Christopher and two great grandchildren Cynthia and Christopher. He is also survived by his half brother Ben of Kenora, Ont. and his half sister June Gelhorn of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Elwin, Art, John, Bob and half brother Joe, his sisters, Pearl Haycocks, Lil Montgomery and Esther Ballentine. Fred was born in Russell, Man. on October 5, 1921 and moved to Winnipeg with his family at an early age. He was employed by Canada Packers for 45 years, working as a Livestock Buyer out of Brandon, Yorkton (where he met and married Eileen in 1950) and then to Prince Albert, Medicine Hat and back of Winnipeg. He was well respected in the livestock business and made many friends at the various places he worked. In spite of his medical setbacks, Freds attitude towards life, and his sense of humour were an inspiration to his family and friends. Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel with Sr. Rose Desrochers presiding. Service will terminate in the chapel.
