STELLA KNELSON (OLSON)

STELLA KNELSON (nee OLSON) Passed away peacefully in her sleep at James Bay Lodge in Victoria, BC on October 11, 1999. Born August 20, 1916 in Gaylord, Minnesota the family soon after moved to Altamont, Manitoba where Stella grew up on a nearby farm. She later moved to Winnipeg with her sister Alice. In 1951 Stella and Alice moved to Vancouver, BC where Stella married Cornelius (Nels) Knelson. Stella was employed at The Bay downtown in Vancouver for many years. She also became a second mom to Christopher and Brian Todd when her sister, Alice died. After Stella retired she remained active in the community and with her many friends. Recently Stella suffered from Alzheimers and after almost 50 years in her home on Dundee Street in Vancouver she spent the past year and a half in Victoria where she was able to be close to her nieces, Ingrid and Sonja. Stella is predeceased by her husband, Cornelius, sister, Alice Todd, brother, Elmer Olson, and nephew, Christopher Todd. Stella is survived by her nieces Ingrid Olson, Sonja Olson, Juanita Causey, Karen Olson, Valerie Olson, and Bonnie Olson and nephews BjornOlson, Nels Olson, and Brian Todd, and Lillian Olson, widow of Elmer Olson. Stella will be missed by all her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC, V5G 3M1 on October 16. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stellas memory to the Salvation Army.
