REINHOLD PACHAL Reinhold Pachal passed away peacefully in his 85th year at the Luther Home on October 13, 1999. Reinhold is survived by his son Ron (Margaret) Pachal; three grandchildren, Curtis (Leanne) Pachal of Calgary and children, Matthew and Cole, Jacquie (Ross) Angus of Ottawa and children, Dylan and Mackenzie, Jodi Pachal of Kelowna; nieces, Barbara Pachal of Winnipeg, Maureen (Glen) Syrowitz of Calgary and children, Jesse and Adina, Rhonda Otto (Tim) of Stonewall; nephew Lionel Pachal of Calgary; sister-in-law Sheila Pachal and her children, Brian (Shelley) Pachal and their son Michael and Gary (Liz) Pachal, all of Winnipeg. Reinhold was born to Karl and Flora Pachal on April 19, 1914. Reinhold was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He was raised in the Edenland/Hollington Districts of Saskatchewan and farmed with his father until 1938 when he married Olga. They continued to farm there until Karl and Flora moved to a farm north of Beausejour, MB. For many years Reinhold also worked with his Uncle Gust (Lizzy) Monthey particularly during threshing and combining seasons. He retired from farming in 1979 and moved to the town of Kipling. Reinhold loved sports and he participated in and watched hockey, baseball and curling. At various times he served on the church council, maintained the cemetery grounds, was a member of the early school boards, telephone councils and the snow blower club and he belonged to the Farmers Union when it was first formed. Reinhold was a member of Christ Lutheran Church until he moved to Winnipeg. Reinhold was well known by the many people he met while farming and while retired in Kipling. Due to failing health, Reinhold moved to Luther Home in Winnipeg in 1998 and was well taken care of by Jim Gessener, Ray Hardy, Lloyd, the friendly and concerned staff and many of the other residents. Special thanks to Walter Fedorchuk and Pastor Don Engel for the care and attention they gave to Reinhold. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Olga (Galinski) Pachal; parents, Karl and Flora Pachal; brothers, Albert, Ernest, Walter (Adina) Pachal, Elmer Pachal and Lawrence Pachal. The funeral service will be held in the Christ Lutheran Church, Kipling SK, on Saturday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Swedish Cemetery north of town. Pallbearers are Melvin and Gary Zepick, Henry and Stanley Klein, John and Willy Rapp. Honourary pallbearers are John and Elsie Pachal, Elwood and Ruth Olver, Ed Hauser, Christina Slykhuis, Eleanor Levai and all those attending the funeral.
