JIM TJADEN July 17, 1936 - October 13, 1999 It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Tjaden announce his sudden passing on October 13, 1999 at the age of 63. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Jim leaves countless people to mourn him. Jim was the life-long love and best friend to Dorothy; cherished adviser and role model to his children, Dianna Schleier (Fred), Shauna Sperry (Wayne), Kevin Tjaden (Beth Kalawarny) and Lisa Tjaden. To his grandchildren (Jessica, Adam, Eric, Joel, Luke and Taylor) he was as much fun as could be packed into a week of Saturdays. Jim leaves so many family and friends to mourn him that it would be impossible to list them all here. Over his lifetime he touched on so many lives, and many were privileged to experience his generous heart and loving spirit. Jim began his career with Feed Rite Mills 35 years ago as secretary to the original owner and retired in 1990 as Vice-President of Sales and Marketing and Partner. During this time he had the opportunity to travel which he usually did with Dorothy and they experienced the world together. His example of dedication and hard work will live with all of us who had the pleasure to work beside him. Charleswood United Church was a very important part of Jims life. Rarely a Sunday would pass without him attending. Over the years he served on nearly every committee including Chair of Council. The Boards of the United Way, Victoria Hospital and the Victorian Order of Nurses also benefited from his willingness to share his time and talents. Throughout his life, he was actively involved in baseball and curling. But his love of golf became his passion. For the last 20 years he was a member of St. Charles Country Club, serving on the Board of Governors and various committees planning tournaments and events. Jimmy will be missed by his many friends at the club, particularly his Saturday Morning Buddies (whom he was known to take a few dollars off on occasion). Some can still recall, with a smile, the sight of Jimmy paddling across the Assiniboine to make an early tee-time. As an avid rose gardener, Dad kept our Sunday dinner tables in bloom. Our familys love was strengthened at that table which was often extended to include friends and growing families. And Poppa would lean back in his chair and say Man, this is livin! Well miss you, Sweetie. A memorial service will be held at Charleswood United Church at 2:00 p.m. on October 19. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charleswood United Church Memorial Fund or Charleswood United Church Mission and Service Fund. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
