HERBERT JOHN TOWNSEND September 27, 1912 - October 14, 1999 With great sadness we mourn the death of Bert Townsend, who passed away on Thursday at St. Boniface Hospital. He leaves to mourn his wife of 61 years, Anne; son Ian; daughter-in-law Win; grandchildren, Tara-Lee and Scott; great-grandson Tyler; sister Inez; brothers, Harold and George. His parents, sister Grace and brothers, Earl, Stan and Len predeceased Bert. Bert worked many years in the family business, Townsend Plumbing and Heating and later with Hansen Plumbing and Heating. He was a Sergeant Major with The Royal Winnipeg Rifles (Little Black Devils), Tache District Commissioner for Cubs and Scouts and also Scoutmaster for the 10th Winnipeg Scout Troop at St. Philips Anglican Church. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and orderlies of 6A for their patience, understanding and wonderful care of our Dad. Flowers gratefully declined; if so desired, donation may be sent to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
