GEORGETTE TEFFAINE Georgette Van Tornhout Teffaine, born on September 1, 1924, passed into eternity on October 15, 1999. She had battled rheumatoid arthritis with steely resolve for over 40 years. While undergoing rehab at Victoria General Hospital, she succumbed to the effects of a massive stroke. Born and raised in Fort Whyte on the family farm (MacDonald Road Dairy), she had the strength and agility to help her father deliver milk in the early forties. She was most proud of being able to handle what was considered a mans job. On her marriage to Marcel Teffaine, they purchased and operated the dairy and in later years, owned and managed Red River Grocery on Pembina Highway. Her husband Marcel predeceased her in 1990. Deeply mourned by her sons, Garry and Ronald and wife Debbie, sisters Bertha Smith, Mary Godlieva DeMeyer and the jewel in her crown, grandson David Michael. Davids hugs and kisses filled her day with joy. Georgette was a very proud grandmother. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 19, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Highway, with Rev. Dr. Patrick A. Morand presiding. Interment will follow in Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society, Ste. 105-386 Broadway, Wpg., MB., R3C 3R6, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB., R3B 2H8 would be appreciated.
