RUDY SHRIER 1909 - 1999 Peacefully on October 16, 1999 at his home at Donwood Manor, at the age of 90 years beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed on to his eternal life. Born on January 31, 1909 in Austria, he came to Canada in 1927, settling in Regina. He worked there until 1933, at which time he came to Winnipeg. After a short stay he went to Vancouver where he met our mother Sara Penner whom he married in May, 1937. In spite of the difficulties of a new language and the depression years, they were happy and contented. Dads new-found faith grew and sustained him all his life. Some time in late 1938 they arrived back in Winnipeg where they remained to the end. Dads church, his family and friends were central in his life. He was a great people person and his loving care for his family will be greatly cherished. The family would like to express their most grateful appreciation for the very loving care that Dad received at Donwood Manor where he spent his last years. Dad was predeceased by our mother, Sara in November 1994 and will be lovingly remembered by his children Elona (Jake) Schellenberg, Lorraine (Bruce) Carter and Ken Shrier; grandchildren, Jeff Schellenberg, Jeni (Rick) Allan, Malcom and Gordon Carter, Christine (Glenn) Mattern, Kristofer and Jordy Shrier; great-grandchildren Brandon and Brittani Allan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, Portage Avenue and Raglan Road. Viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Donwood Manor or mbc/Family Life Network (Mennonite Brethren Communications). For God so love the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
