WILLIAM (BILL) BIEDLER Mr. William (Bill) Biedler, aged 86 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 15, 1999 at the East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, MB. Bill is survived by his sister, Lydia Schinkel of Lac du Bonnet; brother Manuel (Shirley) of Beausejour; brother-in-law Norbert Arnhold of Beausejour; sister-in-law Liz Biedler of Lac du Bonnet and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents Stephan and Amalia Beidler; brothers Roy and Reinhold and sister Irma Arnhold. Bill was born in Friedensfeld, Manitoba on March 5, 1913. In 1935, the family moved to the Brokenhead area where they farmed for many years. During the Second World War at the age of 29, Bill served in the Canadian Armed Forces for four years. After returning from the war, he remained a bachelor and after his parents passed on, continued to farm with his brother Manuel. In 1978, the farm was sold and he moved to Beausejour where he resided until his passing. Bill enjoyed watching hockey and he loved playing baseball in his younger years with the Dencross Hard Ball League. He was musically inclined and learned to play various instruments under his fathers instruction. He played with the Friedensfeld and the Greenwald Church Brass Bands. He will be remembered as a quiet, gentle man who enjoyed telling stories about his involvement in the war and other fond memories. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the East Gate Lodge staff for their care and compassion over the last four and a half years. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour with Pastor Arleen Berg officiating. Pallbearers will be his nephews Elvin, Harold, Reinhardt, Ronald, Leslie Schinkel and Reg Arnhold with interment in the Zion Lutheran cemetery. Friends may view at the Sobering Funeral Chapel on Tuesday until 9:00 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, Manitoba R0E 0C0.
