SOPHIA WOJCIK Peacefully, with her family by her side, Sophia Wojcik (nee Cicirko) aged 77, dearly beloved wife of Jan Wojcik, passed on to eternal life on Saturday, October 16, 1999 at the Concordia Hospital. Remaining to cherish her memory as she was a special mother and grandmother are her children, John (Michelle), Danuta (Donna) and Irene. Her beloved grandchildren, Tim Fiala, Andrew Fiala, Sean Wojcik and James Wojcik. She is survived by her sister Cecelia Kania of Chicago and her children, John, Donna and Lydia. Also her brother John Cicirko. Sophia was predeceased by her mother Veronica Cicirko (nee Sczerba) and her father Walter Cicirko in Poland. Her niece Radja Hanc of Boston and her sister Amelia Hanc of Boston and surviving are her children, Christine, Richard, Eugene and Helen. Sophia was born June 20, 1922 in Wegierka, Poland. After the atrocities of the Second World War she settled in Canada with her husband. She worked at Misericordia Hospital for 30 years with her close friends, Stella, Lucy and Vicki, retiring in 1986. She loved her flower garden, music and the outdoors, especially camping at Birds Hill Park with her grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, we are forever touched by her generous heart and sincere kindness. Chocie Dzieci Slonko Swicei Come With Me Children the Sun is Shining The family wishes to extend their thanks to all her Home Care Workers, Terry, Leona, Anna and Nadia who made it possible for her to stay in her home as a stroke survivor. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Macek, Dr. Kruegle, Dr. Yaffe, to Lydia, Kristy and Mary for her compassionate caring staff at the ICU, Concordia Hospital. Also special thanks to her family physicians, Dr. I. Kalicinsky and Dr. S. Husarewycz. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
