ROBERTSON JOHN (BOB) CORDINER Peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 1999 at the Middlechurch Home. The family wishes to announce the passing of their beloved husband and father. Bob will be sadly missed by his wife Jacqueline, daughter Lauralee and son Bill (Susan) of Calgary. He is also survived by his brother-in-law John Arthur (Sally), sister-in-law Diane Arthur and nephews and nieces of Thunder Bay; many relatives in Scotland and England. Bob was born in Winnipeg, grew up and was educated in St. Vital. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War on the H.M.C.S. Uganda. After the war, he completed his apprenticeship with C.N.R. He worked in various capacities at Swan River, Sioux Lookout, Kamsack and Thunder Bay. On his return to Winnipeg it brought him to the opening of Symington Yard as a supervisor. He spent 18 years at the C.N. Depot, Mechanical Department, Prairie Region. He was a member of the St. Vital Legion Branch No. 16, life member of Golden Star Chapter No. 254 Royal Arch Masons, a member of Ledger Perceptor No. 70, Windsor Lodge No. 138 A.F. & A.M., life member of the Railway Supervisors Association and Officers Club. He was a member of the Manitoba Society of Seniors, St. Vital Curling Club and Transcona Senior Curlers until his illness. He started curling at 14. He was on the winning team that won the Junior Championship for the St. Vital Club. They had not won it for many years. Bob was an Art. App. with the Navy and enjoyed their reunions. He lived in Windsor Park all of his married life. His summers at his cottage since 1945 at Grand Marais was a special place for him. Also special were his trips to Thunder Bay each summer to visit Jacquelines family brought great joy. Bob loved baseball, played baseball over the years, passing on his knowledge to his son by coaching and umpiring at Niakwa Community Club. His special dogs, Lucky, Bo, Murphy and Zak and Chelsie and Sammie brought much laughter into his life. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 21 at 2:00 p.m. in Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr. at Cottonwood. Cremation with a private interment will take place. A special thanks to Richard Knott, James McLennan and the Royal Canadian Legion for their many visits. Also, a special thanks to the Middlechurch Home - North One for their compassionate care of Bob.
