HENRY LOEWEN Peacefully, on October 18, 1999 at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, Henry Loewen passed into his eternal home. He was predeceased by Mary, his wife, in 1997. Mourning the loss of their father are his children, Martha (John) Klassen, Adeline (Jake) Klassen, Victor (Dianne) Loewen, Mervin (Jo-Anne) Scott. He also leaves ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In early 1917 Henry was adopted by the Abraham J.D. Loewen family of Dolinsk, Russia. The little information that is available about his parentage indicates that his parents were German prisoners of war residing in that part of Russia at that time. The Abraham Loewens provided a loving home for Henry and at age nine he was taken with them to Canada where they settled on a farm at Beechy, Saskatchewan, where Henry grew up and attended school. During the depression he came to Manitoba to help with the harvest. This is where he met Mary Isaak and they were married in 1938. They have lived in Saskatchewan, British Columbia and in Manitoba. Henrys main vocation was carpentry, lastly working at T. Eatons in Winnipeg for 25 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a devoted, loving father to his family. Henrys steadfast Christian faith guided him throughout his life and surely was the source of the serenity with which he endured his ever-increasing health problems during his later years. Psalm 31: 14 " I trust in you, O Lord; I say, You are my God. My times are in your hand." He was a member of the Springfield Heights Mennonite Church. His family thanks Donwood Manor for caring for Henry Loewen during the years he was a resident. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to Donwood Manor. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., with interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Viewing prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
