Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH (MALENKY) DESJARLAIS January 23, 1902 - October 21, 1999 Peacefully at Beacon Hill Lodge, Joseph passed away at the age of 96. "Malenky" was the oldest member of St. Laurent, Manitoba. Malenky was predeceased by his wife Louise; son Robert and four daughters. He leaves to mourn six children, Armand, Lynda (Jack), and August all of Penticton, B.C., Elie (Margaret), Raymond (Rhoda) and Thelma of Winnipeg. Malenky had forty-three grandchildren, fifty-four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives. He also leaves two sisters, Exilia and Rose and two brothers, Eugene and Harvey. Malenky was employed at Burns for 23 years, until his retirement in the late sixties. He worked on the highways of Manitoba and Ontario as a construction worker using horses to build the highways. He also loved to play the violin and played at many socials and weddings. Prayers will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 25 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Funeral mass at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 26, at Kateri Tekakwitha Mission, 794 Ellice Ave. Interment Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. We would like to say thanks to the Health Sciences Centre, Misericordia Hospital, and special thanks to the staff at the Beacon Hill Lodge for the care they gave our father and the compassion they showed us.
