EMILY HANSELL It is with great sadness, that the family announces the passing of Emily Hansell, on October 4, 1999, at Donwood Manor. Predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Les, in 1996. Mom is survived by children, Ken (Doreen), Bob (Gloria), Barb (Les Johnson), Sandi, Ted (Aaltje) 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also sister Helen (John Faraci) and brother-in-law Ken (Kay) Hansell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Winnipeg (St. James) on September 5, 1912. She spent her youth in East Kildonan. Mom and Dad married on June 30, 1931. They lived in Winnipeg, Beausejour (1936-40) and then back in East Kildonan until their retirement in 1975 when they moved to Anola until 1996. Mom was a homemaker and a great loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with Dad, they maintained a home where everyone was welcome. Many friends of their children felt of it as a second home to their own. With Dad away in the Navy, 1942-1944, Mom provided the family with the wisdom and compassion of both parents. Mom was a great family cook, especially steak and kidney pie, granny cookies and apple pie. She enjoyed knitting and sewing. Many of her patchwork quilts are treasured possessions of her children and grandchildren. Mom and Dad forged many friendships during their lives and these, also, became friends to all the family. We were blessed to have Mom and Dad as our parents. The family wishes to thank the home care ladies of Anola and the staff of Donwood Manor for their compassionate care of Mom and the family. Also, thanks to the many friends who called and visited her in all these years, especially Bert Hall (Kamloops) and Charlie Tinling. According to Moms wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family interment at Chapel Lawn. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29 at Klassens Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
